Getting started

Installation after purchase.

The Virtual WDS installer is provided after purchasing a license; it is not available as a public download. Install the supplied software on the computer you want to license, then open Virtual WDS to obtain its Machine ID.

If you have purchased a license and need the installer, contact Aurum Scientific with your order details.

Licensing and activation

Find and send your Machine ID.

Virtual WDS displays a Machine ID when activation is required. Copy the ID from the computer on which you installed the software and send it, together with your order details, to sales@aurumscientific.com.

The Machine ID identifies the computer for licensing. Aurum Scientific uses it to generate that computer’s offline license file. Obtain the ID after installation; it is not needed before purchase.

Offline license

Install your license file.

Save the license file emailed by Aurum Scientific with its name unchanged: virtualwds.lic.
Place the file in C:\ProgramData\VirtualWDS on the computer whose Machine ID you supplied.
Open Virtual WDS to have the software check the license.

The full file path is C:\ProgramData\VirtualWDS\virtualwds.lic. The license is annual and per computer; the activated software can operate without internet access.

Can I download the installer before purchasing?

No. Aurum Scientific provides the installer after purchase. You can explore the features and workflow before choosing a license.

What if the license is invalid for this machine?

Check that the file is named virtualwds.lic, is in the folder shown above, and was issued for this computer’s Machine ID. If the message remains, contact Aurum Scientific with the exact message, your Machine ID, and order details.

What if the license has expired?

Virtual WDS checks the license expiry date. Contact Aurum Scientific with your order details if you receive an expiry message and need help with your license.

Does the annual license renew automatically?

No. It is a non-renewing one-year license per computer. Additional computers require additional activations.

Can tax-exempt institutions purchase without tax?

Contact Aurum Scientific before purchase with your exemption documentation so the order can be handled appropriately.

What if a computer is replaced?

Contact Aurum Scientific with your order details and the new Machine ID. Replacement handling is reviewed case by case.
